Job Description:

Summary:

Research in the Dhar lab uses a variety of biological approaches to study liver diseases and cancer. Our mission is to understand how hyper nutrition and metabolic stress influence the development of Metabolic associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), liver fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The overarching goal of the lab is to understand the basic mechanism of disease development in order to develop novel therapeutic approaches and biomarkers for MASH and HCC.

A Staff Scientist position is available to study the impact of metabolic and oncogenic stress on the initiation and progression of MASH, fibrosis and HCC. Under limited direction, the Staff Scientist will plan and manage all aspects of a research project including research design, experimentation, funding acquisition and publication.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Research design and planning

· Experimentation and trouble-shooting

· Data collection, analysis and interpretation

· Data recording and compliance

· Management of collaborations

· Results summarization

· Preparation of grants and manuscripts

Education and/or Experience:

· Ph.D. in biomedical sciences.

· Five years of postdoctoral experience

· Experience with culturing mammalian primary and cancer cells in vitro, molecular biology techniques, lentiviral production, overexpression and knock-down or knock-out genes in vitro

· Using mouse models of MASH and HCC are required. Expertise in in vivo techniques such as intrasplenic injection, i.v., IP, oral gavage, sub-cutaneous injection is preferable

· Experience in harvesting and processing various mouse tissues in required. Isolation of various primary cell types from the liver in preferable

· Experience with immunohistochemistry and microscopy is required

· Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish research projects

· Work independently as well as in a team environment

· Be responsible and have strong time management skills

· Able to analyze and resolve issues of high/moderate complexity

· Possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Demonstrate professional communication and interpersonal skills

· Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Prism, ImageJ

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation:

The expected hiring range for this position is $70,000.00 to $100,000.00, commensurate with relevant experience.
