Texas Biomed is searching for an Associate Director of Research Resources. This role provides advice and assistance to the Director of SNPRC on day to day activities to include administrative, veterinary and fiscal components. Conducts independent research on variety of projects consistent with mission of Texas Biomed. Manages P51 Base Grant and oversees the Research Coordination program.

The Role:

Advise and assist the Director of SNPRC on organizational structure and operations, including all components of SNPRC - administrative, research, veterinary and fiscal, and in day to day activities

Assist in establishing and tracking Key Performance Indicators

Serve as one of the key conduits of information from external entities to key leaders

Attend NIH-NPRC Directors' meetings twice per year and participate in other NPRC Consortium activities

Manage the P51 Base Grant including the competitive renewal, oversee the yearly Research Performance Progress Report

Oversee the Research Coordination program

Oversee the Colony Administration Program

Manage the Pilot Grant Program review process

Contribute to the overall functioning of the SNPRC by collaborating with the Associate Director of Veterinary Resources to produce reports, ensure efficient processes, and enact strategic planning initiatives

Participate in advisory groups including the SNPRC Leadership Group

Conduct Independent Research focused on animal model development, management and/or refinement, animal colony medicine, or fundamental/translational biological research consistent with the mission of the SNPRC, as well as the priorities/areas defined by Texas Biomed

Develop a highly visible research program in their specific field of interest as measured by extramural funding, publications and other metrics of impact

Mentor fellows/trainees and publish research in high-visibility journals, thus setting the standard for the rest of the faculty colleagues


Our Ideal Candidate:

· A doctoral degree in biological sciences, veterinary or clinical medicine, with extensive experience of scholarly research

· Required prior work experience in leadership and management of teams within research support organizations utilizing NHPs

· Previously documented evidence of program development and administration in the NPRC system or other primate research programs highly preferred

· Previously documented evidence of research and team administration as well as a currently funded, visible research program preferred
