Financial Analyst


The Financial Analyst collects, tracks, analyzes and disseminates information that provides support to a variety of stakeholders i.e. corporate, sales representatives etc. This position is a resource charged with establishing and maintaining a company's data policy and will be a resource for the Value Center especially with analysis and reporting.


The role of the Analyst has become increasingly important as business accumulates rapidly growing collections of sensitive entity data, information that must be used across Finance department and Operations performance. The incumbent will interact with managers and employees across all segments of the company’s operations. This is essential to determine the sometimes conflicting needs of various departments and to develop a data management strategy that works for everyone.


This is a very fast paced, customer service focused department. We are a customer service division with analytics, so the daily workload requires working with various departments to support our customers, multi-tasking, and the ability to self-motivate to meet deadlines.



Responsibilities

Experience Required In Order To Be Considered:

  • Excellent Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups, Date functions, etc)
  • Experience of Accounting (i.e. accruals, revenue & expenses, variance analysis budget vs actual)
  • Access database skills

Preferred Experience (not required):

  • Business Analytics Tools (Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Adaptive Planning are some examples)
  • Other working/basic knowledge of a programing language is a plus (Java, C++ etc)

Daily Functions:

  • Responsible for ensuring data consistency and integrity as part of reporting responsibilities
  • Identify the needs of the business and its users
  • Performs a variety of ratings analysis using built models. Makes logical decisions on how to present findings that would best suit sales representatives and sales managers; gains a solid understanding of sales reps. requests in order to provide accurate and useful information
  • Performs sales profile analysis and provide accurate measurements of client/potential client volumes per product line
  • Performs weekly, monthly and ad-hoc financial analysis related to volumes, various types of revenues; run reports using existing systems and consolidate or disseminate reports depending on requirements
  • Supports internal corporate requests i.e. client profitability analysis, variances for branches; collect and consolidate the information required to support branch and/or corporate decision-making
  • Assists with the yearly budget and updated forecasts planning process and help with verifying data accuracy to avoid potential errors in the planning process – find opportunities to streamline and automate

Decision Support:

  • Follows logical steps when analyzing any data set and identify missing data points that are critical to providing accurate information
  • Works with a large variety of stakeholders i.e. sales teams, value center clients; maintain good communication and work relationships as data needs to be collected from these stakeholders in order to provide accurate reporting
  • Find opportunities to streamline and automate

Sales Support:

  • Influence the design of reports and processes. Testing for optimal performance will be a key functional responsibility; Find opportunities to streamline and automate.
  • Deliver reports requested by the sales organization on time according to deadline dates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, tolerant of stress, able to work in fast paced environment, dependable and analytical. The ability to think critically and find automation opportunities.
  • Use reasoning skills to solve these problems within organizational time and cost constraints. Able to prioritize workload
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and demonstrated ability to work with all levels of an organization
  • The ability to work well with others, objectively, creatively, diplomatically, with excellent communication skills
  • Strong team orientation, with a proven record of building team relationships with staff, clients and other stakeholders
  • Strong personal motivation and enthusiasm, interest in and commitment to making a difference in the organization
  • Ability to understand reporting tools and troubleshoot data flow issues or inaccuracies independently
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Make decisions independently with limited supervision or guidance

Education and/ or Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Finance, Accounting, Math, Statistics or related field with an inclination towards quantitative studies (math or statistics)
  • 2 + years’ on-the-job related experience
