Job Description


The Director of Ambulatory Services and Sports Medicine Outreach is responsible for oversight of partnerships, relationships and services with community partners and organizations on behalf of OSU Sports Medicine, Ambulatory Services and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The Director will establish and maintain partnerships with community partners including school districts, universities, employers, municipalities and public and private organizations. The Director is responsible for oversight of service delivery included in these partnerships, including service outcomes, the customer experience, quality and compliance. This position supports the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of OSU Sports Medicine, Ambulatory Services, and OSUWMC.






Position Summary


Primary responsibilities include development, implementation and management of outreach activities for affiliated organizations with OSU Sports Medicine and Ambulatory Services, including high school, collegiate, professional, and recreational and club sports; local employers; local government entities or municipalities and other public or private groups or organizations. The Director of Ambulatory and Sports Medicine Outreach directly manages and integrates athletic training services and other relevant clinical programs and personnel to ensure integration of services as appropriate, particularly around the three-part mission directed at our school and community partnerships. The position also serves as a primary liaison between community partners and OSUWMC services, serving to facilitate integration of services with community partners. Services may include, but are not limited to, physician services; sports medicine, physical therapy and athletic training; behavioral health and sports psychology; school nursing; nutrition and clinical dietetics; medication management services; medical consultative services; sports performance and wellness programming; and related preventative or long-term health promotion services. The Director will work closely with Ambulatory Services Senior Leadership and will serve as a member of OSU Sports Medicine's leadership team and Community Engagement teams. The position will report directly to the Senior Director of Ambulatory Services.






Minimum Qualifications


Required - Bachelor degree in Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy or related field is required. Masters/Advanced degree is desired. Current State of Ohio License in Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Speech Language Pathology, or Occupational Therapy is required. Demonstrated skills and abilities to permit independent functioning within the regulations and guidelines provided.



Preferred - Advanced degrees in business and/or health management. Considerable experience in the development and management of sports medicine outreach programs, particularly the integration of successful outreach programming which has a measurable impact on clinical volumes and quality.
On going: Maintains current licenses and certifications. Performs administrative functions satisfactorily.
