The University of Miami is currently seeking a Patient Scheduler 2 to work at Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami. The incumbent will accurately schedule all procedures approved by the radiologist and process all relevant documentation performed in that area in a timely fashion. He/she will assist the technologist as requested. Other duties include retrieval of all current imaging reports, lab data, clinical visits, surgical notes, consent page, and demographic cover sheet that composes the Interventional Radiology procedures package. This position uses the designated Protected Health Information (PHI) system as necessary to perform their functions. Employee must adhere to HI "minimum necessary" compliance standards at all times.




CORE JOB FUNCTIONS




  • Schedule patients for Interventional Radiology and special procedures.




  • Explain pre and post procedure instructions as appropriate.




  • Possess knowledge of the RIS/PAC system to ensure that patients are also scheduled and arrived in RIS/PAC and physicians orders are scanned into the system (when applicable).




  • Verifies pre-registration data and makes any appropriate changes as necessary including insurance coverage information. Ensures that the appropriate Patient Type and Location is used during the registration process. Adheres to policies and procedures regarding the registration process.




  • Performs on-site insurance verification as needed and obtains necessary authorizations and referrals when required. Enters all relevant data into Uchart, links data to the appropriate visit and completes the required data elements in RIS to ensure that accurate billing data is submitted to the appropriate insurance carrier.




  • Explains all information regarding procedures to the patient and submits those forms to the appropriate entity. Determines appropriate questionnaire required by physicians and instruct patient to complete at time of check in.




  • Attend to request from physicians, patients and co-workers in relation to patient's schedule, documentation and triages packages.




  • May assist in the training of new employee's acting as resource for all coworkers.






Minimum Requirements:




  • High School diploma or equivalent.




  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.





Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:




  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.




  • Skill in data entry with minimal errors.




  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence.




  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.




  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.




  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
