HPE is seeking an Engineer Manager to join our AI Cloud team to lead and oversee our engineering efforts with third party colocation providers around the world. This includes electrical and mechanical design of white spaces in the data centers as well as advisory on the facility designs in support of our liquid cooled, high density compute systems for supercomputing and AI systems. This is a unique role as it requires expertise in both mechanical and electrical engineering and the ability to speak comfortably in both disciplines. In this role, you will participate in a new and growing business segment within HPE which offers considerable growth potential. This role can be performed onsite or remotely within the US.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Oversee the coordination of internal and external customer compute system requirements with third party facility design and engineering

  • Provide guidance and leadership to engineering staff developing facility white space build out plans.

  • Travel to prospective and current data center locations to assess and review fitness for our needs and purposes.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings related to data center capacity, buildout and future availability.

  • Participate in customer and prospective customer sales meetings to understand hardware compatibility requirements with facility engineering and capacity.

  • Ability to create typical details, plan and elevation views of electrical and mechanical designs in whitespaces and perform site adaptation of typical designs to site specific requirements.

  • Coordinate and manage external MEP firm work and third party equipment engineering engagements

  • Perform mentoring and staff development.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 6 - 10 years of experience as a project engineer at a MEP firm, AE firm or equivalent construction company type role.

  • Professional Engineers license (HPE does not stamp/seal drawings)

  • Experience performing load calculations for electrical and mechanical systems

  • Knowledge and understanding of 1-line drawings, equipment schedules and DD/CD document production

  • Experience performing Construction Administration and site observations

  • Experience with building DDC control systems and communication protocols

  • Experience with heat pumps, heat wheels, heat exchangers and other larger scale systems and equipment

  • Working knowledge of UPS, generator and other facility level electrical distribution equipment

  • Ability to travel internationally

  • Prior people management experience


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and good communication skills, including English

  • Comfortable meeting with and engaging directly with customers (internal and external) during requirements gathering and solution development

Preferred Qualifications:


  • LEED Accredited Professional

  • AutoCAD / Revit experience

  • Knowledge of HPC systems and large scale enterprise IT infrastructure typically contained in data centers.

  • Prior data center design and construction experience

  • Experience with SCADA systems and PLC hardware

  • Knowledge of IBC, ASHRAE, NEC, TIA, LEED BC +D and other related codes and standards

If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $98,000.00 - $225,500.00
