Position Summary:

Seasonal Hires are a temporary status and therefore may not be employed for a period of more than four and ½ months. These individuals may be hired either as full-time or part-time and must be a minimum age of 16 years. Seasonal positions are Non-Benefits eligible.

We have temporary positions in the exciting space of neuroelectronics and medical technology development.

Projects will be assigned based on personal student interest and skill set. But could range from advanced manufacturing, support preclinical (animal) research, computational modeling, and data analysis.

Example of previous projects

• Programming and setup of robotic arm that will assist during implantation surgery

• Impedance spectroscopy testing of assembled devices

• Sparse sensing methods used to predict electrode information

• Design of new surgical tools for in rodent surgery

• Analysis of brain electrical signal, and the impact of each frequency band

• Adapt a protocol for staining and scanning rat brains post-mortem to validate electrode placement

• Assist in analysis of novel human electrophysiology recordings

Position Key Accountabilities:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with lab mates and multiple principal investigators

Certification/Skills: None

Minimum Education:

Individuals must be a minimum age of 16 years.

High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.

Minimum Experience: None

Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently , and/or up to 5 pounds constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

Security Sensitive: T his job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement: Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
