Job Description Summary

The Senior Analyst, Commissions is a process-improvement driven role that will have primary responsibility for the financial relationship with Sonesta's key travel agent partners (Expedia, Booking, etc.). This role will be required to find innovative ways to analyze large volumes of data, ensuring the company does not exceed contractual payment obligations and understands commissions on a global level. This role will primarily support the 200+ managed hotel portfolio but may work on projects that impact the 800+ franchise hotel portfolio where synergies exist.

  • Responsibilities

  • Own financial relationship with Expedia and Booking.com (among others), providing detail for Sonesta's payments to key partners. Ensuring Sonesta stays current with invoices, and in good standing with its online travel agent partners.

  • Work with internal and external IT teams to manipulate and analyze reservation data, comparing agents' data to actual reservation data from Sonesta's PMS.

  • Prepare and post monthly commissions expense accrual journal entries for managed hotels.

  • Prepare and process consolidated invoices to key partners. Monitor individual invoices as necessary.

  • Work collaboratively with internal partners in General Accounting, Distribution, Accounts Payable, IT, among others, sharing pertinent data in a timely manner.

  • Track results and report out metrics to internal stakeholders, providing context on amounts and process improvements.

  • Manage the audit of uncollected revenue from online travel agents, using external partners as needed.

  • Assist on reconciling commissions paid to other major partners.

  • Monitor/research for duplicate payment of commissions, go after refunds from vendors, and reduce future error by improving processes.

  • Responsible for owning work and contributing to team, department and/or business results.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

This is a hybrid office/remote job for a candidate based in Sonesta's Orlando, FL Shared Services Center.

Qualifications and Skills

A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency.

3+ years' experience in general accounting and financial record keeping, including closing entries (hospitality industry preferred) Experience and ability to effectively organize, manipulate, and analyze large amounts of data Preference for candidates with experience with travel agent commission payments and processes Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with Yardi ERP, Opera PMS systems a plus. Ability to proactively communicate and work effectively with hotel staff, corporate management, internal partners, and external contacts. A self-starter that thinks outside the box and challenges the status quo. Attention to detail, problem solving and trouble shooting skills are essential. Excellent oral and written communication, along with excellent organizational skills. Passionate and enthusiastic.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $60k to $70k. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills, and job specific/overall experience.
