The Transporter, Part time - Lagrange, GA is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses - are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Job Summary:
The transporter is an individual who supports the goals and functions of the organization and performs his or her duties within established, legal, and organizational standards. The transporter promotes a stable relaxed working atmosphere among fellow employees through congeniality, consideration, and efficiency. The transporter is responsible for transporting patients from one area of the health system to another. They are responsible for assisting the nursing staff in getting the patients in and out of bed, performing chest compressions during Dr. 99, assisting in dispatch of patients to and from the helicopter and using portable oxygen.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Transportation - Provide the patient with safe transport to and from appropriately assigned designations. - Transporter will be responsible for ensuring transport equipment returns to the department and is stored according to policy and procedure. - Transporter will ensure that appropriate staff personnel are kept informed as to the receipt and departure of patient as they enter and exit a clinical area [appropriate patient handoff]. Ensure readiness of patient rooms - Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure that treatment rooms are well stocked and ready to receive patient. - Will ensure that the department is maintained with oxygen and equipment necessary for prompt transport. Departmental Cleanliness - Will collaborate with clinical staff to ensure that equipment is maintained in its standard location, ensuring that all electrical equipment remains plugged in and charged for immediate use. - Will round on blanket warmers to ensure that appropriate temperature is maintained. - Will collaborate with the ambassadors to ensure that wheelchairs and stretchers are readily maintained within the unit; clean and functional. - Work in collaboration with supply coordinator to ensure that equipment is maintained, repaired and available for use.
Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma Required or equivalent Required
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
Required Minimum Experience:
Hospital experience Preferred
