Retail General Manager

JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a highly regarded family-owned and operated management group as they search for its next Retail General Manager!

As Retail General Manager, you'll oversee the efficient operations of our client's retail and dining establishments. Reporting to the executive team, you'll lead Unit GMs, a Category Manager, and the Area Business Manager. Focus on preserving company culture, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and developing unit leaders. Uphold high service standards and company values. Maintain confidentiality and adapt to evolving responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

Divisional Strategy
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for each business segment in line with company objectives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and market dynamics for informed decision-making.
  • Adapt strategies as necessary to respond to changing business environments, with a focus on local dynamics.

Financial Management
  • Oversee the division's financial performance, including costs, margins, and expenses, in alignment with the approved budget.
  • Drive sales through both external sources and daily customer patronage.
  • Generate Quarterly Variances reports for each location, focusing on key drivers and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Review monthly category reports with Category Manager to ensure meeting margin and volume targets.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve financial goals, including cost-control measures and revenue optimization across all business segments.

Departmental Leadership
  • Recruit, develop, and support key management members aligned with company culture and goals.
  • Ensure equipment care, repair, and maintenance adhere to TMG standards.
  • Enforce safety guidelines for all team members and promote a safe work environment.
  • Maintain company culture within the division, particularly among management.
  • Navigate and understand POS, Back Office, and Accounting Systems provided.
  • Ensure proper scheduling and associate coverage for positive customer experiences.
  • Maintain operational standards across various business segments.
  • Implement and enforce policies for enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Address operational issues promptly and effectively.

Customer Experience
  • Prioritize exceptional customer experiences across all business segments.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Track, monitor, and review customer feedback, taking corrective action as needed.

Success Factors:
  • Achieve net operating income targets for the retail division.
  • Attain an engagement score of 75 or higher for the division.
  • Maintain a corporate inspection score average of 80 or higher for food service franchises.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted volumes for key retail business drivers.
  • Introduce innovative products to increase sales, resetting stores at least twice a year.
  • Ensure team members receive scheduled training for leadership and customer service development as forecasted.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in successfully developing and managing/leading a multi-unit convenience store chain with a strong background in food service.
  • Demonstrated success in leading a team to recognition as a multi-unit operator.
  • Clean driving record and valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to perform all duties of positions within Convenience Stores, Hotel, and Restaurant.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and integrity in all business dealings.
  • Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and self-driven approach to achieving goals.
  • Inspire and motivate team members to excel in their roles.
  • Effectively prioritize tasks and allocate resources for maximum efficiency.
  • Balance time between strategic planning and day-to-day operational demands.
  • Manage stress and pressure effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.

Salary Range
  • $100K - $130K
