Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist

SUMMARY: The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of products here. This position supports the FSQA Manager by assisting in the implementation of rigorous quality assurance measures, conducting inspections and audits, investigating quality issues, and contributing to the continuous improvement of food safety and quality standards within our seafood processing plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in maintaining all food safety and SQF Prerequisite programs in accordance with regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Provide support on food safety and quality assurance matters to cross-functional teams across the organization.
  • Assist with the investigating and documentation of customer complaints and identifying root causes when possible.
  • Continuously monitor procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to food safety & quality standards.
  • Assist with food safety and quality audits conducted by internal teams, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor compliance with food safety regulations, SQF standards, customer requirements, and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to FSQA activities, including SOP's, policies, records, reports, and 3rd party Supply Chain traceability platforms (i.e. Trace Gains, TR5).
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and safety of raw materials and ingredients used in our products.
  • Manage assigned environmental, health, & safety functions, specific to OSHA.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety and quality processes, reduce risks, and optimize operational efficiencies.
  • Analyze data, trends, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Complete special projects, duties, and assignments as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • High regard for safety standards and quality control
  • Experience in quality control preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
