VOLT Lighting is looking for a dynamic and experienced Lighting Product Manager to join our team in developing and launching new lighting products. As a Lighting Product Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our product portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lighting technology, possess excellent market analysis skills, and have a proven track record of developing and launching successful lighting products. Responsibilities:
1. Product Management:
o Develop and execute product strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
o Create and maintain product roadmaps, timelines, and budgets.
o Manage the organization's product portfolio and make recommendations on its future state.
o Identify market opportunities and propose new product ideas based on market research and customer feedback.
o Develop and execute go-to-market plans for new product launches, including pricing, positioning, and marketing strategies.
o Perform high-level financial analysis and business case modeling to determine the feasibility of potential projects.
o Analyze product performance metrics and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimize product features and functionality.
o Lead SKU rationalization and optimization efforts of the organization's product mix.
o Manage the organization's idea funnel by soliciting new ideas and recommending which ideas to develop into products.
2. Market Research and Trends:
o Conduct market research and analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape in the lighting industry.
o Conduct competitive research and analysis to validate product requirements.
o Monitor industry trends and technological advancements in lighting to inform product strategy.
3. Product Specifications and Documentation:
o Create and maintain product requirements documents outlining product specifications and desired features.
o Support the customer service team by providing product training and technical support as needed.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, supply chain, and operations, to define product requirements and ensure successful product development and launch.
o Regularly present project proposals to the leadership team.
o Act as a product evangelist, representing the company and its products at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings.
Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field • 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in the lighting industry • In-depth knowledge of lighting technology, including LED lighting systems, and emerging lighting trends a plus • Strong understanding of product development processes and methodologies • Excellent market analysis and strategic thinking skills • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing lighting products • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment • Familiarity with project management tools and agile development methodologies • Exposure to financial modeling focusing on ROI and payback • Experience presenting to upper management to gain approval for projects • Passion for innovation and staying up-to-date with the latest lighting industry advancements
Reporting Relationships:
The position will report to the Director of New Product Development.
Internally, this position will regularly interface with all areas of the company including the Senior Staff, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing personnel in the USA and Asia.
Externally, this position interfaces with suppliers, contractors, and customers.
