Job Description:

We are seeking a hard-working and hands-on Financial Controller to join a dynamic team. The ideal candidate should be comfortable in a transactional role and ready to roll up their sleeves. This person should have a groundbreaking understanding of QuickBooks Desktop, preferably in the Contractor Edition, and a strong background in the construction industry. With over 5 years of job costing experience, this candidate will need to demonstrate leadership capabilities and excellent financial judgment. Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the timely development and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Oversee the accurate and punctual generation of financial documents, and effectively communicate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements.
  • Oversee all job costing for projects.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to prepare special reports.
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms for audits and tax returns, ensuring all financial functions comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure sufficient controls are in place and verified documentation is readily available, facilitating smooth independent and governmental audits.
  • Direct and coordinate all fiscal reporting for the organization, including revenue, expense, and balance sheet reports.
  • Manage month-end close procedures.
  • Monitor inventory and commodity prices.
  • Generate quarterly & annual reports, W-2s, 1099s, and other necessary documents.
  • Manage payroll and cash flow effectively.
  • Monitor bank account balances regularly.

Requirements:
  • At least 10-15 years of broad accounting leadership experience in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, ideally the Contractor Edition.
  • At least 5+ years of job costing experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong financial and accounting acumen.
  • Excellent communication with the ability to effectively cater to the needs of all stakeholders, including clients, employees, and owners.
  • High levels of integrity and uprightness.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, maintain attention to detail, and manage time constraints.
  • A self-motivated individual with a drive for excellence.
