A New York City-based social services organization is currently seeking a Spanish-speaking Social Worker (MSW) for a promising opportunity with their growing Preventive Services program.
About the Opportunity:
Start Date: ASAP
Assignment Length: 3+ months
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: 9am to 5pm (two days a week 12pm to 8pm)
Setting: Preventative Services program
Patient Volume: Caseload of 12 families
Patient Population: Medically Underserved, at risk families and youth
Responsibilities: The Social Worker (MSW) will:
Provide a range of supportive services to families who have been identified by the child welfare system as being at-risk for child abuse and/or neglect
Assist parents / caregivers address barriers to their children's health, safety, and well-being, so that families can stabilize, strengthen, and reduce the need for future involvement with the child welfare system
Make safety-focused assessments of child and family functioning
Develop intervention plans and help caretakers take charge of their respective situations and avoid future child maltreatment
Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Previous work experience in a helping role with children, teens, parents, or families
Strong interest in learning Structural Family Therapy
Working from a systemically- oriented perspective
Computer savvy
Solid assessment and documentation skills
Great interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
