Die Shop Supervisor - Forging (Chicago, IL)

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Die Shop Supervisor to join their team in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will supervise the daily operations of the die shop, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality dies for Forging production.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a team of tool and die makers, and other shop floor personnel.
  • Schedule and assign work tasks, ensuring adherence to deadlines and production quotas.
  • Oversee the entire die making process, from design review and material selection to final inspection and approval.
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment, enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular training sessions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production issues, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and maintain shop floor equipment, ensuring proper maintenance procedures are followed.
  • Prepare and maintain production schedules, tracking progress and identifying potential bottlenecks.
  • Conduct performance reviews for team members, providing coaching and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to ensure die specifications are met.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including production logs, quality control reports, and inventory records.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and forging techniques.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a die shop or related manufacturing environment.
  • Strong, hands-on understanding of die making processes for forging applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of metalworking principles, materials, and tooling.
  • Experience with CNC machining equipment a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
