SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

This position provides engineering support and project management for large capital projects for new and existing business, full line automation, infrastructure projects, and cost reduction initiatives. The manufacturing engineer will use data analytics tools to identify continuous improvement opportunities, reduce waste, and support return on investment justification.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, labor, and OEE. Includes opportunities in infrastructure, bottle making, end of line automation, packaging, and warehouse.
  • Own project management and execution for engineering and automation projects including quoting, ROI justification, financial forecasting, installation, start-up, and project reporting.
  • Provide trip agendas, request for quotes, competitive bids, vendor analysis (cost/benefits), project closure, lessons learned, and cost tracking for all projects.
  • Proactively ensure project scope is accurate and updated for financial impact.
  • Drive culture of standardization in safety, automation, equipment selection, and project management.
  • Lead complex equipment moves to facilitate new business.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams such as quality, sales, production operations, and warehouse.
  • Lead projects with external vendors and take initiative in new equipment vendor identification.
  • Technical SME for external customer communication
  • Development of training, SOP, PM, LOTO, and validation documents for equipment including best practices.
  • Support the design, improvement and fabrication of internally developed and purchased blow molding and auxiliary equipment.

LOCATIONS:

Ottawa, Ohio, Monroe, Georgia, and North East, Pennsylvania

TRAVEL:

50% travel pending on project assignments and home plant location.

EDUCATION:

Required: BS Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial) or 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing and maintenance

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Required: Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, plant engineering, automation engineering or Maintenance Engineering.

Preferred: Plastics packaging experience - bottle making, filling, or supply. Experience in Robotics, AGV, control systems, and facilities equipment installations across multiple applications, and platforms. Experience in plant layout design, bulk material handling, and utility audits. Experience in equipment troubleshooting and RCA. Ability to read and generate electrical schematics and mechanical prints. Experience in sustainability and energy reduction initiatives. Experience in blow molding technologies. General knowledge of OSHA safety standards. General knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.

Drawing Skills: 2D CAD drawing skills for plant layouts and equipment requests. 3D

modeling capability is a plus

Computer Skills: MS Excel, MS Project

Industrial Electricity and Controls:
  1. Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution
  2. Strong knowledge of industrial infrastructure equipment (Compressed Air, Process Water, Switch Gear, HVAC)
  3. Basic understanding of ladder logic, control systems, HMI, robotics
