Job Description:

Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing and benefits administration with precision and efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and benefits programs, along with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:
  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including but not limited to data entry, calculation of wages, and processing of payroll adjustments.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding payroll taxes, deductions, and reporting.
  • Process and verify employee timekeeping records and address any discrepancies or issues.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports as required.

Benefits Administration:
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits enrollment, coverage, and eligibility.
  • Coordinate with benefits providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Conduct regular audits of benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.

Compliance and Reporting:
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns, W-2 forms, and other required reports in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies as needed.

Systems and Process Improvement:
  • Continuously evaluate and streamline payroll and benefits processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with HR and IT teams to implement system upgrades or enhancements and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Provide training and support to employees on payroll and benefits-related matters.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex payroll and benefits issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation is a plus.
