Job Description:

The Manager, Community Development, CEMA is responsible for new member acquisitions, onboarding, and retention programs for CEMA members. In addition, this individual will foster and develop relationships with member sponsors and is accountable for fulfillment of annual premium membership. This role performs administrative functions to include managing the membership database, coordinating member engagement and retention programs, connect with new members through a variety of methods including direct phone calls, emails, and member community social media posts. The Manager, Community Development is accountable for multiple deadlines, coordinating special projects related to our annual conference, and will build positive relationships internally and externally. The Manager, Community Development, CEMA is open, transparent and has the ability to work well cross-functionally, engaging appropriate stakeholders across the organization.

Accountabilities:

Recruitment & Retention
  • Exceeds member recruitment goals of organization, building a strategic membership pipeline.
  • Development and execution of recruitment and retention strategies (to include telephone calls, emails, and face to face interaction).
  • Exceeds member retention goals of organization through execution and management of the member engagement plan to ensure members renew as well as regain lapsed/expired members.
  • Participate in CEMA events for recruitment and retention of members
  • Promptly responds to all prospect inquiries.
  • Manage and effectively streamline the registration process, including membership applications and payment.
  • Perform member onboarding activities.
  • Submit timely and accurate reporting against KPIs.
  • Manage and motivate volunteer groups to achieve retention and acquisition goals.

Social Media & Online Community Management
  • Manage and develop CEMA's online community and online social interactions. This includes cross promotion through blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Linked In and other strategically relevant online properties.
  • Coordinate social media efforts with key stakeholders including membership recruitment and retention activities, industry publications, meetings, and education. This includes working with internal departments to identify key contributors to various communities.
  • Research & develop ways to drive traffic to social media channels in addition to researching existing & emerging social / professional networking channels, platform sites, blogs, and apps for new ways to reach and engage in conversation with members.

You will bring with you to this role:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in association membership programs, marketing, or sales organizations
  • Understanding of the events industry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines in a remote capacity
  • Ability to work on own and delegate tasks
  • Ability to create and deliver sales presentations in individual and group settings
  • An excellent, open, articulate, and personable communicator with diplomatic and persuasive communication skills
  • Ability to travel and work nights/weekends when needed
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in performing the work.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time in performing the work.
  • Ability to pull or push objects of varying weights in performing the work.
  • Ability to grasp objects utilizing the fingers (fine motor manipulation).
  • Ability to travel by air or ground transportation as required in performing the work.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
