Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Lead to work with and lead our kitchen team. Pay rate is $20-$25 an hour based on experience. Hours are typically 8am-3:30pm & 3pm-10:30pm. We are not open on Mondays and close at 2pm on Sundays, so having a set schedule of two days off a week is very manageable. We offer health, dental, and vision insurance after 60 days of working full time (minimum 30 hours). We offer immediate paid vacation of 24 hours taken at the employees' regular rate of pay, prorated for the first year. After a year of continuous full-time employment, we offer two weeks of paid vacation taken at employees' regular rate of pay.

Job Purpose: Maintains highest professional food quality and sanitation standards while providing and assisting Executive Chef with effective leadership of the kitchen staff.

Duties and Responsibilities: The primary job duties and responsibilities of being a Kitchen Lead include but are not limited to the following:


  • Planning and directing food preparation in a kitchen

  • Must be able to work all station

  • Must learn and be knowledgeable of the food menus

  • Must be able to read and accurately follow standardized recipes to ensure a consistent product every time

  • Ability to manage and direct a team of cooks and dishwashers

  • Supervises kitchen employees in the absence of managers and chefs

  • Ability to train new employees

  • Implements processes, procedures, and protocols within the kitchen

  • Ability to take inventory

  • Organize timing of food preparation for service

  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work ethic under extreme stress

  • Must treat others with respect at all times

  • Must monitor quality control to ensure guest satisfaction

  • Controls food portions for a balanced food cost

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks effectively and quickly

  • Ability to maintain in a fast-paced environment

  • Must adhere to sanitation, safety and food regulations

  • Performs up to company standards and expectations

  • Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance, meeting the Pressed and Tailored standard

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Tiny Boxwoods Productions require the minimum qualifications to successfully perform the position of Kitchen Lead:


  • Texas Food Handlers certificate

  • Close attention to detail and consistency

  • Good memory

  • Flexible availability in scheduling

  • Capacity to multitask

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Clear communication both verbal and written

Working Conditions: The incumbent will be working in a restaurant setting, on the floor with guests, in the kitchen and dish area. Potential hazards include but are not limited to cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent is required to stand/walk for long periods of time. Incumbent is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be able to constantly move around in the kitchen.
