What we do: 

The Cash and Custody Function engages in critical operations on behalf of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Federal Reserve System including the distribution of U.S. Dollar Currency to the Second District, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin islands & international customers, as well as Gold Safekeeping Operations. 

Reporting directly to the Head of Cash & Custody, you will work collaboratively with other leaders and stakeholders across the Bank, Federal Reserve System & US Government agencies as a broad and influential thought leader.

Your role Head of Cash & Custody Operations:

As the Head of Cash & Custody Operations, you will oversee and develop high-performing teams to manage 2nd District and international U.S. Dollar currency distribution through commercial channels, risk and compliance management as well as Gold Safekeeping Operations.


  • Leads an organization of 100+ including a team of managers of Cash & Currency operators and gold custodial staff.

  • Ensures that business operations are well controlled, documented, and aligned with Bank, System and US Treasury policies.

  • Fosters a nimble, continuous improvement culture responsive to industry and environmental change while driving successful outcomes of complex, strategic & multiyear initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing large scale critical operations, ideally within a complex, mission-driven organization; focus on continuous improvement methodologies a plus.

  • Outstanding people manager, with inspirational leadership skills bringing people together. Strong collaboration skills, a focus on positive intent and an interest in ensuring strong relationships with an ability to partner effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals.

  • Emotional intelligence, including the ability to build trust in a variety of relationships through candor, reliability, and authenticity as well as the capacity to embrace and draw from diversity and inclusion to improve the quality of outcomes.

  • Creates a team culture that enables staff to achieve results in a changing environment.

  • Excellent change management skills, including advocating, anticipating, and orchestrating change.

  • Ability to satisfy the Federal Reserve System's conflict of interest requirements. 

Salary Range: $248700 - $325000 / year
