The Loan Officer serves current and prospective customers with sound agricultural credit according to Association policies and procedures. Build business development strategies, develop customer relationships and provides loan servicing for existing portfolio. Operates within delegated lending authority.


Sales, Business Development & Marketing

  • Makes calls on prospects using a weekly sales plan to include a specific goal for numbers of prospects visited and number of existing customers visited.
  • Expand existing relationships by proactively researching customer needs, uses discretion and independent judgment in understanding customer needs, and matching products and services to those needs.
  • Pursue cross-sell opportunities with existing members.
  • Documents all sales activities in Association's Customer Relationship Management tool.
  • Handles all loans > $250,000 as well as strategic relationships < $250,000.
  • Assists the Consumer Loan Officer with loans < $250,000.
  • Develop new business by actively pursuing new individual and business customers and by becoming a visible and involved member of the community.
  • Creates and maintains relationships with centers of influence to increase referral business.
  • Represents AgGeorgia at Trade Shows, local events, realtor meetings, civic organizations, etc.
  • Interview applicants, gathers and reconciles complete, accurate credit and financial data using the five credit factors under the guidelines of differential analysis.
  • Serves as a courier between membership and Association as needed - picking up payments, documents, etc to prevent the member from having to leave their farm.
  • Promptly address inquiries from members and prospects and ensures all Association contacts are treating member requests with a sense of urgency.

Credit Administration

  • Determine credit risk and makes timely and accurate decisions within delegated authority.
  • Establish and negotiate credit terms, when necessary.
  • Inspects or appraises collateral as needed or applicable.
  • Communicates credit decision to loan applicants with a working knowledge of traditional underwriting practices and scorecard lending program.
  • Assure sound loans; appropriate documentation and underwriting; appropriate pricing and fees based on risk, terms, and servicing costs; and implementation of business plans in accordance with overall AgGeorgia objectives.
  • Maintain acceptable credit administration rating on assigned portfolio.
  • Communicates effectively on loans requiring underwriting through the ACA's analyst team, relaying pertinent information and providing proper documentation to support an accurate recommendation.
  • Ensure loans are approved per delegated authorities.
  • Participate in various seminars and credit training to maintain and enhance credit skills.
  • Ensures compliance with all required disclosures.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to Consumer Loan Officers and other staff.

Loan Servicing

  • Monitor specific, individually assigned loans and assures that the loans receive timely and sound servicing.
  • Service loans in portfolio to retain high level of credit quality.
  • Reviews progress of loans on a periodic basis.
  • Call on loan customers to evaluate management, inspect collateral and detect signs of potential financial problems.
  • Handles delinquent loan relationships and counsels customers to bring accounts current.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience in a related field preferred.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions which serve the best interest of the borrower and the Association.
  • Travel via auto to carry out essential responsibilities of the job.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under moderate supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Contributes to building and maintaining a positive team atmosphere.
  • Focus on problem solving skills with solutions-driven results.
  • Supports diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of Farm Credit Association policies and procedures.
  • Current awareness of economic developments and production technology affecting agriculture in the region.
