As a Project Manager in our Northeast Municipal Engineering Services Group, you will:

  • Work directly with municipal clients on wastewater infrastructure improvement projects throughout New England.
  • These projects will range from wastewater collection/conveyance projects to full-scale wastewater treatment improvement projects to address age-related needs or to meet new, more stringent permit limits.
  • You will work with an experienced team of water quality engineers whose collective experience includes study phase, design phase and construction phase engineering services for wastewater system upgrades.
  • You will collaborate with engineering staff in our New England offices to support you on exciting projects.
  • You will be able to perform your design and management tasks from any of our five New England offices, with some time remotely from your home.

  • On projects you are responsible for, you will manage resources to complete projects in accordance with the contract, scope of services, budget, and schedule.
  • You will be allotted time to coach, train, and mentor project engineers and junior staff supporting you.
  • You will work within an established quality control program and have access to our project manager manual, resource planning tools, and recurring project management training.

In this role you will also be expected to:

  • Achieve excellent financial performance for Hoyle Tanner.
  • Provide superior client service by responding to needs and understanding concerns.
  • Lead a qualified project team to successfully complete a project or client deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Maintain and foster team satisfaction in completing project tasks and collaborating with subconsultants and other disciplines.
  • Resolve team personnel resource conflicts in conjunction with other project managers and supervisors.
  • Lead efforts in pursuit of potential projects and the development of technical and qualifications-based proposals.
  • Monitor and manage resources to complete projects in accordance with the contract, scope of services, budget, and schedule. Efficiently use Deltek and other project budget tools.
  • Promptly invoice for services rendered and advocate for timely accounts receivable.
  • Monitor product quality and prepare a quality management plan with well-defined roles for project team members.
  • Keep Principal-in-Charge informed of project progress, potential scope creep, or amendments and collaborate on resolution strategies as needed.
  • This position leads to a technical group leader role responsible for supervising a small number of staff and assisting in their career development, training, and managing work assignments to maintain effective billability of group.

The successful candidate will have experience with plan production, specification writing, engineering analysis, client collaboration, highly successful project financial tracking, task management in a project manager roll or management in a project engineer role that has recently progressed to project management. The successful candidate will possess strong oral and written communication skills which are a key to success and a necessary qualification for this position.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSCE with PE license in at least one of MA, NH, VT, ME with the ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • 10+ years of increasing technical and/or leadership experience to include 4-6 years' experience as a project engineer or senior project engineer with wastewater infrastructure design experience.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, an acute understanding of project finances, scheduling, and client management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering with a focus on wastewater process engineering
  • Additional PE License(s) or NCEES record
