The Department of Pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine is soliciting applications for an open rank TENURE-TRACK faculty position. We seek outstanding scientists who conduct cutting-edge research in the area of the biology of parasitism, including genomic, genetic, cell biological, or biochemical studies of parasite biology, studies directed at interaction with the host and its microbiome, its vector, or studies on host response and immunity to parasitic infection. The University of Pennsylvania provides a stimulating environment of faculty with diverse expertise spanning fundamental, translational, and clinical research on the cellular, molecular, and biochemical basis of infection and inflammation. PennVet is located in the heart of the University's Philadelphia campus in a highly interactive campus-wide biomedical research environment. The Department's faculty serve in leadership and teaching roles in multiple Biomedical Graduate Studies groups including Cell and Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Microbiology, and deliver foundational veterinary medical education. The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to affiliate with University-wide Institutes, Centers, and Graduate programs including the Institute for Immunology and Immune Health, Institute for Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases, Center for Global Health, Microbiology, Microbiology Virology, Parasitology Graduate Program, the Immunology Graduate Group, the Cell and Molecular Biology Graduate Group, and others (Pathobiology Dept, PennVet) and (https://www.vet.upenn.edu/patho-search) providing ample opportunity to engage in collaborative research to advance human and veterinary medicine.




Qualifications:


Applicants must have a Ph.D., MD, VMD/DVM or equivalent degree and productive postdoctoral training. The successful applicant will receive a competitive start-up package, state-of-the-art research space, and will have access to the wealth of resources and core facilities available across the campus of one the world's leading research universities. The successful applicant will be expected to build and lead a nationally recognized extramurally funded research program and contribute to the teaching and service missions of the Department.
