Scope of Position


The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center- Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard Solove Research Institute (the James) is committed to providing high quality cancer services in detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The James' cancer strategic plan includes an initiative to expand cancer care into new regional, national, and international markets. The Service Line Administrator (SLA) is responsible for strategic planning, operational, financial, and business oversight of the following services and locations: GU Service Line (urologic oncology and GU medical oncology) and Ortho Sarcoma Service Line at all clinical locations. The SLA works collaboratively with physician leadership, Director of Nursing, and Senior leaders to ensure provision of high-quality patient care while insuring the financial viability of the service line and the hospital. The SLA develops, aligns, and operationalizes the James clinical, academic, and research activities to support the overall cancer strategic plan and goals initiatives through interdisciplinary collaboration.





Position Summary


Responsible for developing long-term plans to accomplish the strategic initiatives of the organization; participates and leads the strategic development and planning activities consistent with the vision, mission, and strategic goals of the James. Provides leadership in the development of the vision, strategic direction, process improvement, compliance, and innovative initiatives for assigned service lines system wide. Provides direction to integrate services between all business units and service lines and works with senior leadership to coordinate and complete a variety of projects to ensure delivery of value-added products and services for assigned service lines. Implements strategies to enhance local, regional, and national projects and programs for the James through the cultivation of external opportunities and to build services and programs as components of the James. Collaborates with the medical director(s), outreach, marketing, and communication departments to develop and implement the appropriate communication strategies for the primary, secondary, and regional markets. Directs the administrative functions for the service lines and acts as the direct supervisor for employees that work under the SLA purview. Reports directly to the Sr. Leader for Service Line Administration. Represents the James at local, regional, and national levels as the liaison between the James and various organizations, agencies, and professional organizations.





Minimum Education Required


Master's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience




Required Qualifications


Graduate degree in nursing, business or health care administration from an accredited school required; Professional certification preferred. Record of demonstrated leadership experience and skills and a minimum of 15 years in leadership roles. Oncology and ambulatory care administrative experience preferred. Experience with collective bargaining and labor relations preferred.
