The Center for Integrative Studies (CIS) in the College of Social Science at Michigan State University invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term Assistant Professor position. This 9-month position will begin on August 16, 2024, and is renewable contingent upon funding and performance. This is a teaching professor position (90% teaching and 10% outreach/service appointment) focused on delivering excellence in Integrative Studies in Social Science (ISS) courses. This individual will play a critical role in the advancement of undergraduate learning and student success initiatives in the center. The successful candidate will possess the qualifications and skills necessary to teach an array of large 200- and 300-level undergraduate courses, on campus in East Lansing, MI.
Duties include teaching three courses (with up to two preparations) per semester with the opportunity to teach online during the summer for overload pay. The successful candidate must deliver excellence in the classroom, effectively work with students from diverse social/economic/cultural backgrounds and demonstrate a willingness to develop interdisciplinary courses that foster student success and inspire engaged learning. Salary and terms are negotiable based on experience. MSU provides opportunities and resources to support faculty advancement and instructional development.

Required DegreeDoctorate -Social Sciences or related field
Minimum RequirementsDoctorate degree, by the day of hire.
Qualifications and skills necessary to teach an array of large 200- and 300-level undergraduate courses, mixed (hybrid) courses, and fully online courses.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence.
Desired QualificationsInnovative and thoughtful approach to developing and teaching interdisciplinary courses that foster student success and inspire engaged learning.
Ability to effectively work with students from diverse social/economic/cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge of MSU student success initiatives is a plus.
