Job Title:Post-Doctoral Scholar


Department:Pharmacy | Outcomes and Translational Sciences



A full-time Post-Doctoral Scholar position is available in the lab of Dr. Shuiying Hu within the Experimental Cancer Pharmacology Laboratory at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy (Columbus, Ohio). The applicant will lead and execute federally funded research projects that examines kinase mediated regulation of transporter function and the contribution of transporters to drug-induced toxicity profiles, in particular peripheral neuropathy. Ongoing projects are related to the identification of solute carriers for small molecule drugs (tyrosine kinase inhibitors, platinum chemotherapeutics, and tubulin poisons) involved in drug uptake into hepatocytes, renal tubular cells, and normal cells affected by therapy; design of preclinical and clinical studies to evaluate pharmaceutical agents as modulators of side effects associated with tubulin poisons. The studies involve functional characterization of transporters, and pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic approaches in gene knock-out and humanized knock-in preclinical models. The applicant will participant in design, execution of complex experimental research and coordinate the processing and analysis of data, conduct experimental tests and procedures; and develop new and/or revised research methodologies. The applicant will assist in the management of the research and development efforts; contribute to publications, draft manuscripts, progress reports and SOPs; prepare material for presentation at professional meetings; co-supervise graduate students, contribute to grant proposals and work and train/educate other laboratory personnel. The fellow also has an opportunity to initiate research project and receive training in grant proposal writing.



Required Qualifications: PhD degree in biomedical science, pharmacology or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Ability to conduct, translate, adapt and apply academic and practical knowledge to the conduct of experiments with no supervision and ability to direct and train other laboratory personnel. Strong communication and organizational skills.



Desired Qualifications: Animal handing or willing to work with laboratory animal models.
