HIRING SALARY: $47,164.54 annually



HOURS: 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday; (hours may include nights and weekends)

FUNCTION: The Training Specialist II is a grant funded position housed within the Department of Juvenile Justice and will report to the Training and Research Manager. This position will prepare for and provide certification and in-service training for juvenile justice professionals. The position will be responsible for the following duties:



  • Achieve program effectiveness by meeting training goals and objectives as set by the Department, Staff Development and Training, class participants, administrators, instructors, program areas, the Juvenile Justice community and DJJ's stakeholders.

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance in the form of document reviews, site visits, email, phone responses, etc., with the Department and contract provider staff. Assists with the development of corrective action plans as requested. Participates in the development of model and curriculum improvements.

  • Complete PAR Fidelity requests for the Department and contract provider facilities/programs. Monitors trends related to physical intervention techniques reported, rate of injury, frequency, and other trends as directed.

  • Prepare necessary reports and training records in an accurate and timely manner. Collects, analyzes, reports and makes recommendations based on data pre and post PAR training by authorized leadership.




MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional or technical experience in areas such as training, teaching, staff development, criminal justice, forensic laboratory or a combination of education and experience. One year of the required experience must be at the supervisory level. Professional or technical experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

(e.g. Fax, copier, printers, scanners, etc.). Knowledge of the operation of a personal computer and related software (Word processing, spreadsheets, database applications). Knowledge of good customer service practices. Knowledge of and the ability to create lesson guides. Ability to coordinate/monitor training. Ability to prepare reports. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to create course schedules. Ability to work independently and with a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to organize. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to travel and attend training. Ability to make good judgment decisions. Ability to manage multiple projects.
