About the job


Alfa Laval USA is looking for a skilled Field Service Technician to join our global repair team within the business unit Marine Heat & Gas. The position is based in the US (preferably Houston, TX), and you will be part of a motivated team working with condition inspections and providing support and guidance to the team performing repairs on boiler plants, scrubbers, inert gas generators and from time-to-time other products.


Do you want to be a part of our international boiler service repair team with great focus on customer service?


As our Field Service Technician, you will support on-site inspections within a dynamic and flexible team managing the increasing number of inquiries and orders which the department is receiving. As part of the team, you will travel to various locations (75-85%+) and perform the following tasks:


  • Inspections and reporting


  • Provide support and guidance to the team of local boilermakers and welders working on large repairs
  • Make sure that repairs are done in accordance with the repair procedures issued and following the weld procedures included
  • Collaborate with our inside sales team to estimate time and material consumption and best repair procedures enabling competitive and profitable quotations for our valued customers



What you know:



We are looking for an engineer, boiler maker, welder or similar with excellent technical skills in welding processes - preferable combined with throughout knowledge of Alfa Laval Aalborg products and/or other similar products within the maritime industry. Further, good communication skills in English, spoken and written are essential, along with understanding of Microsoft 365 portfolio of systems and programs that is essential when making reports on inspection.


You have a high school diploma or GED and an aptitude for being a structured, service and quality minded colleague to maintain and build even stronger relations with our customers (external and internal). It is important that you are flexible, independent, robust, and thrive in a very active environment with much travel activity of + 200 days/year.



Physical factors


  • Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, entering confined space, equipment and/or motor vehicle use)
  • Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs. as required
  • Must wear company issued uniform and PPE
  • Must be able to successfully pass offshore training (Bosiet/HUET)

The overall salary range for this role is typically $26/hr-$32/hr; with travel and overtime pay $75,000 to $90,000 annually.
