The Field Engineer role involves overseeing aerial and underground fiber optic construction crews, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and maintaining communication with all stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations. OSP Field Engineers report field conditions for design engineers to accurately design the network. This role is a field-based role.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and Report on Aerial and Underground Fiber Optic Construction Crew progress (up to 3-5 crews)
Investigate planned pathways in front of crews to identify and mitigate roadblocks
Represent Congruex and Client in a professional manner
Ensure work is performed in accordance with permit requirements
Inform all supervisors and subcontractors promptly of any construction schedule changes, and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure requirements are met
Provide schedule, and project database updates, report regularly to project manager to keep him/her constantly informed of job progress, plans and problems that could significantly affect costs or schedules
Manage compliance with quality control, and quality assurance standards and specifications
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations at all times
Perform equipment, material, and routine site inspections
Attend regular meetings with vendors, managers, and staff
Travel to and supervise multiple job sites during the course of a day
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Valid driver's license and ability to accommodate travel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong time management and attention to detail
Ability to adapt to changes in schedule and priorities
Professionalism in a fast-paced environment
Superior customer service orientation
Knowledge of safety standards
Physical ability to perform fieldwork
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth
Experience with project management processes and tools
Ability to quickly learn new systems and databases
Experience monitoring and reporting on Aerial and Underground Fiber Optic Construction Crew progress
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Basic knowledge of Make-Ready Construction
Experience in estimating existing utility locations
