Job Summary:

As an Assistant Project Manager at K-Con, Inc., you will work closely with the Project Manager to support the successful execution of Federal Projects nationwide as well as construction projects, including commercial and light industrial projects in the Charleston area. You will assist in coordinating project activities, managing subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project management within the dynamic construction industry.

Training and Development:
  • Receive comprehensive training on various aspects of project management, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and quality assurance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Project Support:
  • Assist the Project Manager in overseeing and managing construction projects simultaneously, including Federal Projects nationwide as well as commercial and light industrial projects in the Charleston area.
  • Participate in project planning activities, including defining project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Monitor project progress and assist in identifying and addressing potential risks or issues.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections as needed to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Documentation and Communication:
  • Assist in maintaining project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and project reports.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members to provide project updates and address any concerns.
  • Utilize project management software and tools to track project milestones, documentation, and communication.

Budget and Cost Control:
  • Support the development and management of project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Assist in monitoring project expenses and tracking actual costs against budgeted amounts.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to negotiate contracts, change orders, and pricing agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and safety standards.
  • Participate in quality inspections and assist in managing the resolution of any quality issues.
  • Support the implementation and adherence to K-Con's quality management system.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction project management or related field.
  3. Knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials.
  4. Familiarity with federal construction requirements and regulations is preferred.
  5. Proficiency in project management software, such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, is a plus.
  6. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  8. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  9. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
