Job Description:

Overview:

Entry level position that will assist IT Director and Production Systems Coordinator in the planning, deployment, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Case Farms shop floor automated systems, processes, and workflow. Will work closely with Plant management, contractors, maintenance, and 3rd-party solution providers to deploy automation to shop floor for respective Plant location. This position will report to Production Systems Coordinator.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Help Desk Support for shop floor hardware / software solutions:

General help desk support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for shop floor automated systems for Morganton location, including but not limited to:
  • Production & Scheduling systems (Computerway solutions currently deployed)
  • Inventory & Shipping system(s) (Computerway solutions currently deployed)
  • Product / Process Tracking & Product Recall (Computerway systems currently deployed)
  • Product labeling (batch & real-time) printing (currently using Computerway solutions for both real-time and batch printing; also using stand-alone Label Matrix software for batch printing)
  • Product QC Tracking Systems (Computerway, CAT Squared, & Sigma solutions currently deployed)
  • Inspect equipment (B15s, scanners, label printers, etc.) daily to confirm that everything working properly
  • Inspect printed case / pallet labels daily to confirm good quality, readable via scanners, etc.

Maintain & support varied computer hardware / software platforms and peripheral devices for Morganton location, including but not limited to: (MS Windows desktop / server OS, WinCE, Win Mobile, Linux, Progress DB, Bluetooth connectivity, Adobe, MS SQL, VNC, etc.)

Install, configure, deploy, maintain, & support automated hardware and networked devices deployed on shop floor for Morganton location, including but not limited to: (Computerway B15 computers, P8 data capture devices, indicators, weigh decks, DataMax label printers, RF Scanners, tablets, table top scales, etc.)

Network Support:

Assist Production Systems Coordinator and Network Administrator with configuration, installation, deployment, & support of TCP/IP networks

Triage physical layer connectivity for networked peripheral devices and resolve issues as necessary.

Documentation & Training:

Assist Production Systems Coordinator to provide end-user training in use of CFS hardware / software system(s).

System(s) Support:

Work with 3rd-party service providers and in-house application development team(s) to assist with data capture, reporting, interfacing, etc.

Provide input with database design and application development for shop floor data collection systems

Preference will be given to individuals with the following exposure and experiences:
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking configuration and hardware
  • Experience with wireless networking technology and RF communications
  • Familiarity with SQL and/or Progress database software experience
  • Applicable experience within poultry "kill" plant operations
  • Project coordination and management skills

Requirements:
  • Degree in (or seeking degree in) Computer / Information Systems / Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Working experience or equivalent combination of both education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware components, Microsoft Windows OS.
  • Above average organizational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and physical layer network connectivity and troubleshooting.
  • Occasional overnight travel required.
  • Occasional lifting of 40lbs or less.
  • Preferred working hours are 11:00am - 8:00pm, but hours are negotiable.

  • Exposed to climate-controlled office environments, outside conditions and processing plant conditions.
  • Physical ability to travel to other Case Farms complex locations as needed.
  • Requires out of town travel and overnight trips occasionally.
