The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager to manage cost, schedule, scope, safety, and quality for the entire project to which they are assigned, ensuring that the project meets goals in each of these categories. They will also ensure proper documentation and reporting of status to senior management. As an individual contributor, reporting to the Director of Engineering and Construction, the Project Engineer will coordinate all engineering and construction related project activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the project manager to effectively manage cost, schedule, quality, and financial control of the assigned project
Support the project controls specialist with earned value management, cost tracking & forecasting and ensure progress updates are provided to key stakeholders
Manage all project communications to include standing meetings and regular reports of status
Implement & lead a change management policy to minimize project scope and schedule creep and maintain the integrity of engineering deliverables
Assess project risks and develop actionable mitigation plans for key stakeholders
Ensure effective coordination between all project partners and provide adequate support where needed to meet project milestones
Ensure all local, state, and federal building codes, construction codes & recommended engineering practices are followed
Ability to recognize, document & communicate variances from applicable codes and standards where applicable
Develop and implement document control system to ensure project documentation is properly maintained throughout project life
Develop and implement construction management systems to document, monitor & coordinate field RFI's, submittal reviews, and quality assurance / control systems
Drive a premier construction safety culture capable of identify leading indicators that can be used to proactively address unsafe behaviors or conditions
Participate in routine and ad-hoc field walks to inspect the work product and evaluate construction progress
Coordinate pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) between construction and operations personnel to ensure safety, quality and design objectives are met
Expected to have sufficient technical knowledge and attention to detail to recognize when technical problems are developing in the various disciplines and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Exhibit sound judgment and creative problem solving to overcome unforeseen challenges in project execution.
Maintain agility in responding to changing business requirements and is action oriented to rapidly pivot the project team to meet those changing needs.
Exhibit sound judgment and escalates problems quickly for resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Design, Project Engineering, Field Engineering, or Project Controls Specialist positions
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office & Microsoft 365 applications, including Power BI or other dashboarding software
Ability to collaborate and lead cross-functional engineering and construction teams
Sound documentation and organization skills
Self-starter, comfortable working independently, and strong attention to detail
Exceptional oral and written communication abilities
Ability to travel
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree or equivalent required, preferably in an Engineering discipline or Construction management
