Identify potential conflict issues to ensure compliance with our firm's conflict and risk management policies.
Resolve conflict issues, including obtaining necessary waivers and drafting ethics wall memos.
Client and Matter Clearance:
Review information provided with new matter requests to ensure compliance with firm policies and professional responsibility rules.
Edit draft engagement letters to align with our policies and ethical standards.
Proactively communicate with partners and management regarding complex conflicts issues.
Vendor Relationship:
Coordinate with attorneys and mediators to prevent potential conflicts.
Review client outside counsel guidelines and assess our ability to comply.
Process Efficiency:
Conduct staff and attorney orientation on the new matter approval process.
Create and maintain effective screening restrictions in consultation with partners, the professional responsibility committee, and information governance.
Maintain accurate records of all conflict resolutions and related communications.
Expertise Development:
Develop expertise in conflicts rules and approaches within specific practice areas.
Formulate templates and frameworks for analyzing conflicts in these areas.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required
Work Experience:
Minimum of 6+ years of experience at a major law firm.
