Purpose & Scope:
This position is responsible for but not limited to supporting the Lead Commodity Manager of MRO procurement to help facilitate onboarding of new suppliers, processing of orders, resolution of invoices, updating purchase orders, and contracts. This position will also be responsible for supporting the commodity managers by investigating AP/ AR issues, analyzing data, and following up on supplier issues. This position will learn the procurement systems and processes for a possible career path to a buyer or commodity manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for clerical responsibilities associated with procurement for indirect and direct material, i.e., issuing purchase orders, processing invoices, and resolving payment issues. Work closely with buying function to ensure placement of orders and address any request for change notices or changes in pricing. Work with requesters and vendors to close orders when complete.
  • Responsible for new supplier TSVP setup or changes and resolving PO transmission error issues.
  • Electronic filing of purchase orders, contracts, and other communication in Maximo, SAP, or On-Base.
  • Responsible for basic auditing of transactions including proper approval of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices.
  • Responsible for sending out yearly quality scorecards to vendors.
  • Computer Skills - Effective use of Microsoft Office products. Must be willing to investigate, learn, and teach any new computer systems that will increase the effectiveness of the purchasing process. Includes basic spreadsheet manipulation including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Continuous Improvement & Cost Containment - Identify any processes or procedures that could be streamlined or improved.
  • Address questions from vendors or Metallus employees in PURMAIL Outlook Mailbox.
  • Assist with the creation and submission of regular diversity spend reports to customers.
  • Creation and revision of price contracts in Maximo.
  • Manage the buyer inbox and react as necessary to resolve issues.
  • Ensure item numbers and pricing are accurate in Maximo.

Technical Skills:
  • Computer applications / program skills including Microsoft Office
  • ERP experience with Maximo, SAP or similar preferred

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in supply chain or manufacturing.
  • Associate's degree in supply chain, business, or related with at least 2 years of experience in supply chain or manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 7 years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, or contracts.
  • Associate's degree in supply chain, business, or related with at least 4 years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, or contracts.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related with at least 2 years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, or contracts.
