Primary Function of Position:
The Senior Instructional Designer oversees the creation, development, implementation, and assessment of innovative learning solutions tailored to meet the diverse developmental requirements of Services audiences, including clinical and technical content and the enhancement of interpersonal skills. The Sr. Instructional Designer performs needs analysis, develops roadmaps and schedules, liaises with subject matter experts and stakeholders, autonomously oversees assigned projects, crafts appropriate learning solutions across various modalities (such as web-based, instructor-led, virtual training, blended approaches, among others), prepares content for deployment in a learning management system, and establishes feedback mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of developed solutions. Additionally, the designer contributes to the overall readiness of Services groups, including Field Service Engineers, Technical Support Engineers, Customer Service and Success teams, and across functional groups supporting the Services and Commercial business units. This role assists with establishing learning standards and processes, leverages industry standard content development tools, and stays up to date with the latest development trends in the learning industry.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Project Management: Comprehensive project management expertise across learning projects, covering analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases.

Collaboration: Work closely with teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to identify, capture, and develop content. Additionally, effectively collaborate with the training delivery, multimedia, and training operations teams.

Communication: Proactively communicate project status and tasks to stakeholders, demonstrating proficiency in identifying and resolving project roadblocks.

Learning Needs Analysis: Lead learning needs analysis process and identify training requirements, synthesize discoveries, and present them effectively to stakeholders.

Learning Objectives: Craft meaningful and measurable learning objectives.

Content Design and Development: Design and develop engaging learning content and experiences aligned with learning objectives, utilizing appropriate modalities, and interventions, and adhering to adult learning principles.

Review Cycle Management: Manage peer, SME and stakeholder review cycles, implement feedback, and oversee the document control process and adherence to brand standards and guidelines.

Learning Content Evaluation: Lead the evaluation of learning content using various qualitative and quantitative methods to drive design and development improvements.

Process Improvement and Adaptability: Identify process improvement opportunities and lead the development of templates to enhance operational and instructional design efficiencies.

Change and Innovation: Champion change and innovation by integrating appropriate emerging instructional design trends and technologies.

Mentorship: Assist in mentoring new instructional designers and content developers.
Qualifications
Skills, Experience, Education & Training:


  • Minimum 8-10 yrs. relevant professional experience

  • Minimum 1-2 yrs. experience in biotech or medical device organization preferred

  • Prior experience in Services technical learning content development

  • Master's or advanced degree in curriculum development, adult education or instructional design required

  • Demonstrated application of adult learning theories and models (ADDIE, SAM, Gagne, Kirkpatrick), process evaluation, assessment best practices

  • Prior experience working in and administering a learning management system

  • Able to manage multiple complex projects and deadlines and adapt to project changes

  • Able to define and document processes

  • Capable of recognizing issues and obstacles and offering feasible solutions

  • Capacity to establish and cultivate strong working relationships with all levels

  • Enthusiastic about learning new processes, software, and skills

  • Able to coach others and provide constructive feedback

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail


Software Proficiency:

Required: Articulate Storyline and Rise, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Teams, Camtasia, Smartsheet, Qualtrics, Zoom

Preferred: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere), Captivate

Work samples and/or portfolio required

Ability to travel 10% of time

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $127,500 USD - $183,500 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $108,400 USD - $156,000 USD
Shift: Day
Travel: 10% of the time
Workplace Type: Set Schedule - This job will be onsite weekly, the percentage of onsite work will be defined by the leader.
