The Glenmont Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

As a Substance Abuse Counselor (TEAP) at Glenmont Job Corps, you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive environment for students who are struggling with substance abuse. Responsibilities:


  • Individualized Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to assess and address the unique needs and challenges of each student facing substance abuse issues.

  • Group Therapy: Facilitate group therapy sessions to create a sense of community, promote peer support, and encourage open communication among students.

  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each student's specific situation, considering their personal goals and aspirations.

  • Educational Workshops: Conduct educational workshops on substance abuse prevention, coping mechanisms, and life skills to empower students with the knowledge to make positive choices.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other Woodland Job Corps staff, including academic instructors, career counselors, and medical professionals, to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to student success.

  • Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to handle crisis situations with a calm and professional demeanor, providing immediate support and appropriate interventions.

    Qualifications




    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited school preferred. A minimum of one-year experience in drug/alcohol counseling or related field required. Valid, active, unrestricted in-state License or Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling/Prevention required. Regional approval required.
