As a key member of the leadership team of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, reporting to the Director of Technology Transfer, the Deputy Director leads licensing and new ventures for the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and assists the Director in formulating strategy and prioritizing goals, managing TTO personnel, and developing and interpreting policies relating to intellectual property. The Deputy Director provides leadership in designing and executing industry engagement and start-up strategies and manages complex licensing transactions and high-impact, complex, and enterprise-wide agreements.

Advanced degree or the equivalent in education and experience in a scientific discipline as well as in business or law.
At least ten years of relevant experience with structuring, drafting, negotiating, and enforcing contracts related to the commercialization of sophisticated research, including complex and multi-party agreements, and technology transfer, both through licensing to large companies and through formation of and licensing to start-up companies.
A track record of increasing responsible roles, including management and supervisory roles, in university technology transfer.
Thorough knowledge of the Patent Law and Federal Regulations pertaining to intellectual property and academic technology transfer.
Proven ability to work collaboratively and successfully as a leader, an individual contributor and part of a team.
Strong analytical and problem- solving skills, and the ability to recommend and act with confidence. Must be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Proven ability to prioritize and manage a diverse group of activities daily despite multiple interruptions and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Tact, professionalism, and demonstrated experience in managing complex and demanding relationships with tact, discretion, and confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to understand and to clearly communicate business, legal, and scientific matters to researchers and other constituencies with varied experiences and competencies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility with electronic communications and computer databases used in technology transfer.
