POSITION NO.: P07814



SECTION: Florida Department of Corrections/Contracts and Grants



HIRING SALARY: $48,000.00



HOURS: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday; may require some evenings and weekend

MAJOR FUNCTION:The Industry Engagement Coordinator position is a grant funded position and will be housed within Florida Department of Corrections Central Office location.




Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:




  • Compile information about new industry engagements; maintain employer information and status of engagements.




  • Inform prospective employers of procedures and processes for working with Florida Department of Corrections to increase the number of industry engagements for pre-release training and hiring events.




  • Answer industry questions and explain available benefits of being a fair chance employer, such as work opportunity tax credits, federal bonding, a motivated workforce, skills training inside institutions, etc.




  • Gather information about prospective employer partner needs and work requirements. Maintain timely and updated contact information for partner employers.




  • Compile data on job candidates for sharing with partner employers. Standardize information sharing reports for employer partners and industry.




  • Schedule Open Houses and Informational Sessions for employers to engage students in Compass and Career/Technical education classes via DTEN technology.






MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of professional experience in the workforce development, business development, or partnership development or related field; Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry; Effective written and oral communication skills; and valid Florida Driver's License.

Knowledge of Curriculum development. Knowledge of project evaluation. Knowledge of administrative principles and practices. Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Knowledge of methods of data collection. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication. Proficient computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Word software. Proficient in specking effectively to small groups. Provide excellent leadership skills. Provide excellent training skills. Provide excellent organizational skills. Data gathering skills. Ability to create spreadsheets and provide appropriate reports. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and complete work assignments with accuracy. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Ability to work in a secured prison setting. Ability to work with inmates. Ability to work within the vicinity of officials that carry guns. Ability to work with users of varying technical expertise. Ability to travel to State Correctional Institutions (overnight as needed).
