The Ohio State University Department of Astronomy seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to work with Professors Jennifer Johnson, Marc Pinsonneault, and David Weinberg on the analysis of TESS asteroseismic data for cool giants. Duties include inferring seismic parameters for subgiants and giants observed with the TESS satellites, publishing a comprehensive catalog of seismic detections, and using the derived parameters for science.



Qualifications


Doctoral degree in Astronomy, Astrophysics or related area required by time of hire; experience in analyzing cool giant light curves for seismic signals desired, although individuals with experience with adjacent fields such as photometric surveys, machine learning, and TESS light curves will also be considered. Expertise in analysis of large data sets, including the application of machine learning techniques, also desired.

The Department of Astronomy, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to join our team. The target hiring range is $55,000-$65,000. The actual salary will fall within this range based on internal equity, the candidate's qualifications and available funding. The position is for 3 years.
