Job Description:


Duties: The Data Analyst will design data base and analytical systems to fully capture national outcomes data for the Division of Transplantation, Department of Surgery. These systems will be used to develop transplant surgery outcomes programs for clinical and research purposes. This individual should have significant, proven experience in the design of data systems for the analysis of medical outcomes. Individual will have an interactive role with the statistical research staff in the Division. Responsibilities include designing, testing and delivering new system solutions to meet organizational needs; designing web user interfaces for data collection and management; querying databases to create reports and determine the accuracy of data entered; exporting/importing data between different sources; performing statistical analyses and statistical programming using SAS, Stata, and other tools; learning and applying new statistical techniques for existing projects or proposals; supporting the writing of manuscripts for peer reviewed journals communicating with staff for ongoing project management; training users of various database systems; develop and support the school's websites, applications, and databases.



Qualifications: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Strong statistical background, and excellent writing skills preferred. An advanced degree in Genetics, Statistical Genetics or a related discipline is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and programming experience in UNIX, R, MySQL, PYTHON and PERL computer experience is required with a clear knowledge of computer applications in the clinical settings. Experience with Excel, Access, Power Point, Microsoft Word, STATA or a similar statistical package and database applications is required. Candidate must be able to exercise initiative and judgment in setting priorities and working independently. Knowledge of medical terminology, computers and various software packages is required. Previous database experience is required.
