Advertised Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Associate Director for Defense Programs Oversight (AD-DPO) will be responsible for addressing the security requirements of research projects (typically grants or contracts) that fall under DoD procedural/security guidelines. While no classified projects are currently ongoing, it is expected that this position will also apply to oversight of such projects in the future. Duties will include continual and direct interaction with program sponsors and subcontractors on Defense program guideline interpretation and compliance. Further the incumbent, based on broad understanding of the sponsored programs, will represent the Director when designated or when Director is not available. Further, the incumbent will participate in strategies to attract or support DoD projects within the Center. Oversight will include informing Principal Investigators (PIs), co-Principal Investigators (co-PIs), and others associated with such projects including but not limited to graduate and undergraduate students and staff. The AD-DPO will interact directly with DoD program sponsors and their security designees to best comply with execution procedural and physical requirements and guidelines. The incumbent will also interact within the Center research engineers and University personnel from pre-award, post-award, information technology, grants and contracts, and others to accomplish oversight of such projects.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field, and 4 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience must be earned by start date.


U.S. citizenship is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

At least 10 years of experience serving in the US military (including the US Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Army). MS degree in National Security, National Resourcing, Human Resources, or related field.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people, including military personnel, faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students, and staff. Must be capable of assembling information quickly and acting on that information. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to maintain confidentiality when required


Job Duty:

Develop and implement protocols and oversight procedures for Defense-sponsored projects. Advise faculty members, students, and staff on matters of national security oversight. The AD-DPO will interact with personnel from pre-award, post-award, information technology, grants and contracts, and others to accomplish oversight of such projects. The AD-DPO will also interact with representatives of funding agencies to better understand execution requirements and guidelines.
