Job Description:


Duties: The Director of Regional Development leads a regional team in their fundraising and engagement strategies and manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation
and stewardship for assigned prospects with the giving ability of $250,000 and above . The Director of Regional Development reports to the Senior Director of Major
and Planned Gifts.
The Director of Regional Development is responsible for a wide range of fundraising and management activities, including but not limited to, the following:
Manage a team of two major gift officers and shared management of one administrative coordinator. Establish goals, evaluate performance and motivate employees to
their fullest potential in achieving all metrics. Develop and support fundraising strategies for the major gifts program for a given region, working closely with senior
leadership in External Affairs. Maintain a top tier of 200 prospects and donors, developing and implementing strategy for prospects with giving ability of $250,000 or
more. Establish and meet mutually agreed upon annual goals for moving donors through development cycle, including visits, dollars solicited and dollars raised.
Coordinate and staff regional cultivation and stewardship events to support development activities and dean's priorities. Identify new prospective major gifts donors
and develop long range plans for their involvement with the school. Serve as External Affairs liaison for Wharton research center or program area, interfacing with
managing director on regular basis for program support, as well as maintaining pipelines for fundraising and volunteer leadership. Collaborate with other fundraisers
in the department and across the university in the overall relationship building of alumni with the school.



Qualifications: Director of Regional Development requires Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in major gifts fundraising, ideally in higher education institutions, as well as experience in leading and managing people; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Ability to lead independently yet interact collaboratively with colleagues, participating in and contributing to total team effort. Experience interacting comfortably with faculty and CEO level contacts. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Travel, some evening/weekend work and valid driver's license required. Entrepreneurial inclination and capacity for success within intensely goal-oriented and collaborative environment. Familiarity with database manipulation and other computer software, preferably Microsoft Office. Understanding of university environment and academic mission preferred.
