As a result of continuous growth, DarrowEverett LLP is looking for a Legal Billing Clerk. The candidate must have excellent communication and administrative skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, be able to multitask without sacrificing efficiency, be responsible, and be able to represent the firm, always, in ways that enhance its reputation.
Role & Responsibilities:
Extensive internal communications within the firm related to time entries and the billing of them, and organized follow up of the same
Preparing and processing work in progress, pre-bills and final bills to ensure that all client invoices are billed accurately, consistently within client requirements and on a timely basis.
Editing attorney bills per their requests, in addition to grammatical and spelling edits.
Reviewing and reconciling account balances in Work In Progress and in Accounts Receivable as needed.
Assist clients with their requests for invoice copies, billing histories, trust ledgers, etc.
Tracking the turnaround times for the billing cycle.
Assist with attorney time entry
Learning and understanding the new client and matter opening rules and processes. A biller may not be responsible for opening matters daily, but they should be able to audit to find any issues that could affect billing
Weekly and monthly reporting to management regarding new matters and billings.
Entering specific billings into online portals per guidelines provided by client.
Work as a part of a 3-person billing team that share responsibilities in an organized fashion.
Qualifications, Education & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is helpful
Legal billing background is desired, but not required.
Advanced computer proficiency, especially with MS Office, Excel, and billing software programs
Ability to handle multiple projects at a time and meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills are required
Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative
