Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Planner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for urban and regional planning, exceptional analytical skills, and a creative mindset. As an Assistant Planner at Public Management, Inc., you will play a key role in conducting research, analyzing data, and developing strategies to support our clients' goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, objectives, and constraints
  • Conduct research and analysis on a variety of planning issues, including land use, transportation, economic development, and environmental sustainability
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of planning documents, such as comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and development regulations
  • Engage with stakeholders, community members, and public officials to gather input and feedback on planning initiatives
  • Provide technical support and expertise to project teams, ensuring that planning efforts are informed by best practices and relevant data
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, policies, and technologies in the field of urban and regional planning
  • Collaborate with GIS and planning staff in collecting field data for planning and mapping efforts.
  • Attend workshops and information seminars related to job duties;
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in planning, community development, or a related field (internship experience may be considered)
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing reports and presentations
  • Proficiency in GIS, CAD, and other planning software is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Texas planning regulations and practices is a plus
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an AICP certification

Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000. In addition, a full range of benefits is offered including:
