Job Title: Treasury Accountant

Job Purpose: The finance team is looking for team members that can continue to help to transform the organization to the next level. We are looking for proactive team members, strive for continuous improvement, enjoy a hardworking environment, and ready to put ethics and integrity first. The Treasury Accountant is responsible for managing bank accounts, performing daily cash reconciliations, preparing business tax returns, posting customer payments and assisting in customer credit review activities. The Treasury Accountant reports to the Accounting Supervisor. This individual enjoys performing a variety of tasks, is detail oriented, well organized, resourceful, and is an excellent communicator.

Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Cash Management
  • Ensures efficient management of the Company's bank accounts.
  • Process interbank transfer requests to ensure timely filing.
  • Prepares daily cash reconciliations, including daily cash position report.

Credit & Accounts Receivable
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the Company's accounts receivable and timely collection of open balances.
  • Reviews customer credit applications, credit history, D&B reports, and credit references. Collaborates with finance and sales departments to set credit terms and limits.
  • Monitors accounts system triggers and controls notification (e.g. denying access) of past due, over limit, etc. and by applying interim actions for accounts that are overdue.
  • Contact customers on past due accounts with continued follow up to resolution.
  • Understanding of full cycle accounts receivable meaning sales order, bills of lading, proof of delivery, billing document, posting to account, receiving cash, and posting payment from customer.
  • Maintains the customer master file, ensuring customer information is accurate at all times.
  • Investigates customer short payments by gathering supporting documentation and partnering with customer service and transportation as necessary. Disputes unauthorized short payments in customer portals and submits the relevant supporting documentation.
  • Identifies and posts customer deposits into proper cash account in ERP system

Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare fluctuation analysis of bank fees and interest expense period-over-period and compared to budget.
  • Monitor and forecast cash balance and cash flow, including input to the 13-week cash flow forecasts.
  • Provides inputs to the statement of cash flow, including borrowings and repayments of debt and non-cash interest charges.

Debt and Hedging
  • Maintain schedules of outstanding debt and hedging instruments, including maturity dates and interest rates
  • Records mark-to-market adjustments on interest rate swaps in the general ledger
  • Records interest and bank fees in the general ledger
  • Maintains debt amortization schedules, recording debt and interest payments and performing reconciliations at month end.

Miscellaneous Business Taxes
  • Prepares and files weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll taxes to relevant jurisdictions.
  • Conducts research of state and local laws to ensure compliance with payroll laws for remote employees.
  • Completes required payroll tax forms for registration of remote employees in applicable jurisdictions.
  • Responsible for all business taxes, including sales and use, personal property, and real estate taxes.

Other
  • Assists with special projects as assigned, including cross-training on other Jordan Manufacturing processes.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Experience
  • Prior related experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced experience working with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency in maintaining account reconciliations, general ledgers, and journal entries.

Environment
  • Position is located at the corporate headquarters in Monticello, IN. Limited hybrid arrangements may be considered.

Essential physical requirements
  • Sitting for a long period of time throughout the day.
  • May be required to lift up to 15 pounds at times
