Job Summary:

The Plant Manager must show a bias for action, build trust, and be entrepreneurial in their actions. Responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the plant including production, manufacturing, maintenance and shipping while ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Develop processes that will maximize safety, quality, productivity, planning and continuous improvement. Maintaining communications with operations, sales, customer service, supply chain, finance, and management teams as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction is essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers' expectations. Use of daily and visual management processes is critical to success.
  • Increase production, assets capacity, and flexibility (equipment and people) while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities while consistently re-evaluating the roadmap and setting clear priorities and expectations aligned with company goals.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement tactical and operational plans in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Develop and mentor direct reports, set goals, and provide a collaborative work environment. Share a trusting relationship with the workgroup and recruit, manage, and develop plant staff.
  • Develop and maintain a manufacturing process plan and budget, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  • Work closely with Plant Controller to manage expenses and submit capital projects for plant and process enhancements.
  • Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of plant operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
  • Commit to plant safety procedures and driving a safety first culture.
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
  • Train and ensure plant employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations including quality and safety.
  • Stay up to date with the latest best practices and concepts within manufacturing.

Requirements:
  • BS degree in Business Management, Industrial Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven work experience as a Plant Manager.
  • Proven managerial and leadership experience, with the ability to transform and improve the plant.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management acumen (Strategic Thinking, Financial Literacy, Operational Effectiveness, Leadership and People management, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Communication, Change Management, Innovation and Creativity, Risk Management, Ethical Judgement, and Integrity).
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
  • Strong communications skills at all levels of the organization. High emotional intelligence is a must.
  • Critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities
  • Fanatical customer focus toward internal and external customers
  • Strong computer and software skills (e.g., Excel)
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Lean Six Sigma, Green or Black Belt certification preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • This role requires frequent walking, standing, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The Plant Manager will work in both office setting and on the plant floor, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
