Sr. Mechanical/Machinery Designer at Endurance Equipment LLC

Endurance Equipment LLC is seeking a highly engaged, energetic, and detail-orientated Sr. Mechanical/Machinery Designer to join our team in our Irvington, AL office. The successful candidate will be part of multi-discipline and nimble design team supporting the forest products industry. This position will be responsible for design of custom equipment utilizing SolidWorks. Create assembly drawings, fabrication details, and installation packages. The successful candidate will work closely with our intercompany fabrication team and alliance vendors to develop high performing and cost competitive solutions to meet our clients capital project demands.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Design custom equipment utilizing SolidWorks and AutoCAD;
  • Create fabrication details, assembly drawings and installation packages;
  • Conduct and participate in 3D model reviews and other quality processes;
  • Provide technical support during fabrication and installation of new equipment;
  • Field measure of existing facilities;
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafting personnel in the department;
  • All other duties as requested.

Education & Experience
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting;
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in heavy equipment & machinery design with preferred emphasis in forest products industry;
  • Minimum of 5 years experience utilizing SolidWorks or equivalent 3D design software.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Knowledge and application of common structural steel shapes and other construction materials;
  • Knowledge and application of steel fabrication techniques and methods;
  • Knowledge and application of power transmission components;
  • Knowledge and application of OSHA guarding systems;
  • Familiarity of bulk material handling systems;
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics and control devices;
  • Ability to create accurate installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings;
  • Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks;
  • Knowledge and application of design and CAD drafting standards;
  • Proficient in the use of 2D AutoCAD;
  • Proficient in the use of 3D design software - Solidworks or Inventor;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Virtual team and relationship development skills;
  • Able to work minimal to no supervision.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time;
  • Ability to Climb stairs and ladders.
