What you'll do...


Customer Care is seeking a creative Staff Data Scientist to optimize our data ecosystem. You will rock this role if you 1) have a knack for understanding how to connect the dots between business goals and the underlying data architecture needed to support those goals, 2) are an expert in thinking strategically about how to craft an agile data architecture that allows for providing reliable insights across multiple sources and varying levels of granularity, 3) have excellent communication skills and can work collaboratively with technical and non-technical audiences to communicate data needs and results of data initiatives, and 4) have a passion for identifying opportunities where modeling can be harnessed to improve the customer experience. In this role you will work with other teams within Customer Care (data governance, analytics, operations) as well as teams across WMT US. This role is remote and reports to the Director of Data Science - Customer Care.



You'll sweep us off our feet if you have...

• Experience managing cloud data warehouses (AWS, GCP, Azure)


• A strong background in research and statistics (including ML)


• Proven track record in strategic use of data, analysis, and modeling


• Technical expertise in data mining (SQL, Google BQ/Hadoop), statistical analysis (R or similar) and data scripting languages (Python)


• Experience with GCP data engineering tools (data proc, big query, Google Cloud Storage) and database administration

You'll make an impact by...

• Designing and building a seamless data ecosystem in GCP that allows for agile tables that can provide insights through simple joins


• Implementing proper data security and access controls


• Ensuring data fields across various sources are consistent and documented


• Building models that deliver insights about the Customer Care experience

The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00-$264,000.00

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field
