Position OverviewThe Department of Molecular Biosciences, University of Kansas, seeks an assistant researcher with experience and/or interest in molecular biology and genetics of the model organism nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans. This position is contingent upon funding. The applicant should be motivated, organized, detail-oriented, work well with others, have a willingness to learn, and be able to participate in many different lab activities.
Job Description35% - Oversee and complete general lab tasks such as solution and media preparation. Oversee general lab organization and cleanliness, oversee lab supply needs, and conduct ordering of laboratory supplies and reagents
35% - Manage the records and curation of laboratory C. elegans strain collection and other laboratory collections including plasmids and oligonucleotide primers.
30% - Conduct experiments related to ongoing projects in the lab under supervision by senior lab PI. These experiments involve C. elegans functional transcriptomics, genetics, microscopy, and molecular biology. A combination of these skills will be required for C. elegans microinjection for making transgenic animals.Position RequirementsThe work location is entirely on-site, at 5049 Haworth Hall, Lawrence, KSRequired Qualifications
