Overview

The Group Exercise Instructor is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses - are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Job Summary: The Group Exercise Instructor functions under the direction of the Program Supervisor and/or Aquatics Supervisor. Responsible for designing the components, choreography, and music (if applicable) of the assigned land and/or aquatic group exercise class. Will lead participants through a safe and effective group exercise class at the appropriate and established class style and intensity. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Lead land and/or aquatic group exercise classes - Understand contraindicated exercises providing a safe and effective approach to exercise - Teach within standard guidelines of specialty certifications - Maintain industry certification in good standing and meet continuing education requirements - Provides class with exercise movements that are physiologically safe and effective and are of the appropriate intensity for the target audience and established class style - Displays enthusiasm and strives to motivate participants to work out within their individual exercise prescriptions - Uses a variety of exercise movements during classes to provide a complete workout and maintain class interest - Utilizes teaching techniques effectively including verbal and visual cueing/demonstrations 70% Provides support for daily facility maintenance and operations - Maintains cleanliness and safety of group exercise rooms, pool areas, equipment, and other areas of the facility as assigned - Participates in team meetings - Maintains consistent and appropriate communication with leadership staff, team members, and class participants - Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs - Demonstrate accountability to schedule by avoiding missed classes and seek substitute instructors in advance - The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours and work schedules - Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties - Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures 30% Required Minimum Education: High school diploma GED or currently enrolled in high school Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor

Additional License(s) and Certification(s): ACSM, ACE, AFAA, MOSSA, NSCA, NETA, NASM, IFTA, SCW, AEA, USWFA or any similar group exercise certification accepted as certification requirement within 30 Days Required Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 1 year Experience but will train under leadership supervision. Preferred Required Minimum Skills: Display strong motivation for community outreach and working with people. Displays excellent organizational, communication, and motivational skills. Displays excellent health and wellness lifestyle. Exercise independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative when performing roles
